Who’s Taking Care of the House?

Housing is essentially a shelter, yes, an environment. A crowded, unsanitary and unsafe environment ultimately threatens human existence.

Despite the 12,432 people per square kilometer in the National Capital Region, more people still move in to the cities and urban areas. This situation is critical on the environment, the economy and basic social services.

Most threatened is the human habitat. In NCR, 3.5 million people live in slums, and 224,000 families live along esteros, railroad trucks and areas in intended for infrastructure projects.

Nationwide, 77,000 homeless people wander in the streets.
