The Philips has created another innovation when it comes to lighting. The LivingColors lamp contains 4 light-emitting diodes (LEDs). We often amazed how LEDs will change the way we look at lighting; how we will build them into the fabric of our houses, and how they will change the way we use light. Here is one of the first transformational ideas that show where they might be going. The Philips LivingColors lamp has four LEDs (two red, one each blue and green) Each one can be increased, reduced, brightened or dimmed to produce a total of 16 million different colour combinations. Amazing isn’t it, not only that because you can mix and adjust it with a hand-held wireless colour wheel. You can even adjust the spectrum, saturation and intensity. It draws 50 watts max and is projected to last ten years.

The Philips LivingColors lamp is one of the prettiest glass orbs we’ve come across, though it’s really made of a sturdy polycarbonate transparent housing. As a mood lighting tool, this cool device (literally, as LEDs hardly generate heat) runs hot with 16.7 million colors.

The LivingColors lamp mini will be available starting in December for around $168.
